South Metropolitan Planning Council (SMPC) meets on the third Monday of the month at 6:00 pm at the Villager – Community Room – 2300 S. Park Street.

March 18th meeting summary: Our guest speakers: Lt. Dave Jugovich, MPD-South District. Lt. Jugovich provided an overview of the Community Policing Team (CPT). The CPT is comprised of 5 officers who service all of the neighborhoods under SMPC (Arbor Hills, Arboretum, Bay Creek, Bram’s Addition, Bridge-Lake Point, Burr Oaks, Capital View, Greenbush, Leopold, Indian Springs, Monona Bay, Rimock-Moorland, and Waunona). The CPT works closely with the patrol officers and the neighborhood officers. Other subjects discussed were selling on craiglist, keeping your children safe on the internet, etc.
Kent Craig, Executive Director of Centro Hispano gave the attendees an overview of the many services they provide the community. A few of the programs are the School for Hope or Escuelas de Esperanza, Juventud Program, The Court referred youth program, and their annual event Fiesta Espana.
